Links with other Schools & Playgroups
We have links with several pre-school groups, including Charminster Pre-school. Charminster Pre-School is located within our school grounds, and we work closely to support the transition from Pre-School into Reception.
We work closely with our catchment middle school, St Osmund's, in order to ensure a smooth transition from first school to middle. We employ a 'Learning Transition Mentor' who works in both our school and St Osmund's in order to support the transition from Year 4 to Year 5.
Our school is a member of the Dorchester Area Schools Partnership (DASP). All the First, Middle and Upper Schools in the Dorchester area belong to DASP. The aim of the partnership is to provide high quality education for all the children in the Dorchester area, enabling them to achieve their full potential as pupils and future citizens.
Within DASP the First Schools work together, sharing experiences such as staff training and organising joint activities including a residential visit each year for Year 4 children to the Hooke Court Education Centre.
